How Our Cake Smash Sessions Work
- We arrive and set up in the room with the best natural light — usually the living room or kitchen
- Baby starts in their outfit — we capture clean, portrait-style shots first
- The cake arrives. We let baby discover it completely at their own pace
- We capture the progression — the touch, the taste, the full commitment
- A short bath or clean-up can be incorporated as a joyful final sequence
- Family portraits after, while baby is still in the happy post-cake mood
What to Prepare
- The cake — a 6-inch round cake works beautifully. Keep decorations simple.
- A plain outfit or nappy cover — solid colour, nothing too precious to get frosting on
- A towel and spare outfit for after
- Baby's favourite snack in case they need encouragement to engage
- The room does not need decorating — natural light and a clean background are enough
